Urgency
Why you should live now and not later

Now wins more often than tomorrow
The best way to think about urgency is this: the more you put thoughts like “tomorrow and later” before actions like “right now, immediately, at this moment,” the more you will fall behind your competition.
Its important to approach each task with extreme care and focus, however, being a perfectionist often hinders the sense of urgency needed to produce. Whether it is letting your perfectionism slow your growth or waiting for the perfect moment rather than creating a sense of urgency to make it happen and get it done, you must be deliberate in your efforts to identify a sense of urgency in all that you do. Quality will always matter, and perfectionism can be a great asset, but productivity, efficiency, and speed are equally if not more important.
A presence of urgency is how you gain separation for the competition. The best of the best of all of us understand the importance of now - this possession, this repetition, this drill, this report, this sale, this action, this phone call. Take care of the now.
People can get burned out with too much urgency. The best urgency comes not from management forcing it on people, not from a dictatorial approach, but from creating a culture where passion thrives and translates into people wanting to get the work done when it needs to be done. It is not meant to go faster because this can cause recklessness.
At some point in our lives, all of us have said, “I will get it done tomorrow or I will get to it Monday.” If you live in a world of get to it, you’ll be living in a world of too late. Pondering on taking action to find a better moment or opportunity is going to present a trap mentality.
Urgency is a habit. It is something that we all can make a part of our lives. If we are intentional about doing things now, paying attention to what is happening now, and executing fundamentals the way they should be executed now, we will all further our journey to success.
People who live with a sense of urgency also live their lives with purpose and meaning. They wake up every day with purpose and possess an inner urgency that drives them to deliver on it. So keep your purpose and goal on the front of your mind to drive urgency into the right direction.
Remember, even if you end up being wrong or maybe don’t get the result that you had originally hoped for, taking action and making mistakes along the way is more beneficial than not moving at all.
The most powerful statement you can ever say to yourself is DO IT NOW.

Good is the enemy of great, not its ally
